Bayou Brothers Gumbo

Prep time: 5 min / cook time: 10 min / serves: 4

We’re not sure if there’s anything more comforting than a hearty bowl of gumbo. However, it can be a time consuming meal to make, and is definitely not always manageable for a weeknight dinner. Let us introduce you to a delicious shortcut - Bayou Brothers Gumbo Mix. We’ve done the heavy lifting for you in this recipe, all you need is to throw in your desired proteins, steam some rice, and enjoy - as simple as that. As the Cajuns say, laissez les bon temps rouler!

a bowl of shrimp and sausage gumbo

Ingredients

  • Bayou Brothers Gumbo Mix
  • 1 lb. fresh shrimp
  • 12-16 oz andoullie sausage
  • 2 cups seafood or chicken stock
  • White rice
  • Green onions, for garnish
  • Hot sauce (preferably Louisiana)

Directions

  • Sauté sliced sausage in a Dutch oven or other heavy-bottomed large pot. Let brown for a few minutes over medium heat.
  • Add in the jar of gumbo mix, along with 2 cups of your choice of stock. Bring to a simmer. Once simmering, add in the shrimp and stir, until shrimp are pink and just cooked through, about 3 minutes.
  • Divide between bowls over rice. Serve with your choice of fixins - we recommend sliced green onions and a healthy dose of Louisiana hot sauce.

Enjoy the gumbo!
