Testimonials

I just tried your Two-Step Green Chile mix, and the recipe on the label for the chicken enchiladas. Wow. Thanks for such a great product-and for putting such an easy recipe on your label that incorporates the product. The meal came out tasting so delicious. I’m going back to the store for more Two-Step products! I’m also putting this recipe at the top of the list for “what to bring to gatherings and pot lucks” to make sure the dish I contribute will be a big hit! I’ve also bought your Queso products which were a big hit with my family, and I just bought a salsa that is good, too.

Hi Brion,

Just a quick e-mail follow to my v-mail of this evening re your Gumbo Two-Step Mix.

After two Louisiana located business conventions years ago I came away convinced that the only way to get that Gumbo flavor again was to return to the banks of the Big Easy. 30 years later my prayers have been answered.

My hope now is that your product will get the sampling it deserves to insure remaining on the shelves of grocers. I spent 20 years as a food broker and I know how brutal the battle for shelf space can become. Hopefully discerning customers such as those patronizing some of your more upscale retailers will prevail. Two-Step Gumbo is sensational to say the least.

Again...congrats on putting out one of the finest quality jarred sauce products yet...AND, I haven't tried the others but will...Keep it up...refreshing stuff guys!

Hi Brion,

I usually purchase large cans of green chilies, divide them up into small containers & freeze to use in various recipes. I purchased a jar of Two-Step, OMG, is that stuff good!!!!!!

I think it will be on my shelf of supplies 4 evermore!

Thank you ever so much for such a wonderful product!

Hello,

I have never done this before but feel compelled to write.

My husband and I had your Texas Two Step Chili for dinner tonight. Without a doubt, this was awesome. So often one tries a new product only to be disappointed in the taste, quality, etc.

Your product delivered all that was promised. We thoroughly enjoyed the chili and look forward to trying your other products.

Thank you for providing an enjoyable meal for us!

Hey Guys,

Just want to say I LOVE your Hatch stew mix. Living in NY, its impossible to find Hatch anywhere. Typically Mom sends cans from NM.

Thank you!

GREETINGS!
I am housebound down here on the Gulf Coast (Port Aransas). The historic HIGH POLLEN of this year's "Mountain Cedar" ("WIld Juniper," "Wild Mountain Ash")....has be experiencing the most debilitating reaction for me yet as a transplate to Texas.

But I wanted to thank you for your sensational GREEN CHILI STEW. There's nothing like it. Flavorful and ZIPPY. But Now that I am particularly SUFFERING...Cookwill and Company's Green Chili Stew trumps any other steaming, homemade concoction. Your distributor here is HEB, who has been a great champion of your product with there exceptional in-store demo cooking islands.

If I can do anything to get the word out... let me know.

Yours,

Sonny W. Port A., TX

My family just finished eating your two step chili and I wanted to let you know it was a hit. I have 3 kids, (14 boy, 12, girl and 10 girl and my husband).

I browned up 2 lbs of turkey meat, added the jar of two step chili and also one can of pork and beans for a little BBQ sweet flavor. (per your suggestion of going “a step further”) IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!

My son ate his with tortillas.

My daughters topped it with cheese and my husband and I with white rice.

IT WAS EASY, HEALTHY and a SENSATIONAL HIT!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING SUCH A WONDERFUL PRODUCT!! I will put it on my shopping list to always have in the pantry!!!

Dear Brion.

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I were at an H.E.B. grocery store in New Braunfels, TX. and were offered a sample of your 2 Step chili and Green Chile Stew. Wow! That was delicious. So we bought both and have since used the 2 Step product. Absolutely the best chili out of the bottle that I've ever had! I also served this product to my hunting buddies at deer camp. They all agreed! This was the best out of the bottle chili going.

Thanks a bunch.

Harvey B. Schertz TX

All I can say is, "HOLY COW!!!" Your Chili is AWESOME! My mom introduced me to your Green Chili Stew last year, and my family has been enjoying it since then. But a week or so ago, HEB had a special, and I decided to try the Texas Two-Step Chili. I am blown away. That is some delicious chili!

I'm also from Texas, I love to cook, and have a pretty good idea of what chili should taste like. I am self-taught--when it comes to chili--originally starting with Wick Fowler's kits, then doing some internet research, cooking by taste, and improving over time. I LOVE my chili. Mainly because I shape the ground meat into large, flat patties, then cook them on the grill. That's what, in my opinion, makes mine better than any other I've tasted so far. My own little secret. But as far as the spices and other vital ingredients... Your Texas Two-Step Chili Mix is TOP NOTCH!!!

I've been all over this beautiful state, and try to check out the chili wherever I go. I've been to a few chili cook-offs, but have never entered one. But if I did, and I found out that Cookwell was competing there, I'd be as nervous as a toy Chihuahua. I'm sure you're already aware of how good your chili is, but I just couldn't keep my excitement to myself. I look forward to trying more of your products.

Sincerely,
Daniel S. TX

Hello there!

Just wanted to pass along that the Cacciatore sauce is incredible! We put it in a crock pot with a pot roast and it was FANTASTIC!

This stuff is EXCELLENT!

Thanks for making it!

Kindest Regards,

Hi… Just bought (In Dallas – Central Market) and tried your 2-Step Green Chili Stew making enchiladas & also over eggs. Awesome.

I’m interested in trying more of your stuff!

I just found the green chili stew at a specialty market nearby. I cooked it today for a dinner party with pork. It is FANTASTIC! Thank you for creating it. I will definitely be trying more of your products

There are two theories about arguing with a woman. Neither one works.

A friend brought me 2 bottles of Cacciatorre from Texas and I have ate both of them, on everything except Lemon Pie (that's tomorrow). Fantastic Stuff!

I felt compelled to write and praise you on this product. How wonderful ! Last Saturday night at my dinner party I served a watermelon, mache, gorgonzola salad dressed with this vinaigrette. I am still receiving rave reviews of how great the salad was. When I share the recipe I always give your dressing all the credit.

Thank you for making me look good.

Sincerely,

Dear Cookwell & Co.

I have been an avid eater since...well since I was born, but more recently I walked into Central Market on a quest. I was in search of a certain kind of salsa that I could just crack open and eat with some yummy chips. I tried the what I like to call the 'over the counter' brands like Pace and well..Pace..and even some not so famous names all throughout the Central market aisle. That's a pretty big selection and I left disappointed many times. On this particular day I happened to pick up your escabeche style salsa because it was in the center of the aisle and I still had not found 'the one'. So I grabbed a bottle and a new bag of chips along with some other groceries and headed home. Later that night I pulled out the salsa and sat down to watch a movie...from the moment I put that stuff in my mouth I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. It was the most tasty stuff I had ever eaten salsa-wise. I tried and ate the entire bottle that night....the WHOLE THING...by myself. Now I'm not proud of that fact, but I am extremely excited to say that I'm now a 2 salsa bottle girl...and sometimes a 3 bottler. I can't get enough of the escabeche style salsa that you guys make and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my tummy.

Also a great thanks for the following creations are in order too: Chili Stew Mix...oh so yum!

The 2 Step chili....also yum

The Bock Marinade...my beans heartily thank you...how do I know? They tell me...post consumption...

AND...

The Queso....I think I may cry...

Anyway...I just wanted to say that whatever you guys are doing in my hometown...don't ever stop...you do good food...and mama likes.

So that being said...should you ever need anyone to market your stuff way up here in Frisco, TX...you feel free to give me a call....or have those people call me...whatever...I'll make you proud.

Sincerely,

Elaine T. TX

Brion,

Just wanted to say that we love your products. We buy them regularly at HEB Woodlands Market. They feature them regularly in their little chef's area and I always have to try them at home. I think I had looked at this website once before, but had forgotten about it, and realize I need to check it out regularly for recipes I might not see at the grocery store. Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoy your products and how glad we are to be able to support a Texas based company!

Sincerely,

Linda M. The Woodlands, TX

Just wanted to tell you guys that your Salsa is incredibly delicious! I sampled it in HEB with their chips (actually the chips was what I wanted) and knew I finally found a salsa that was good. It is almost gone now but plan to buy more and also to try the 2 step chili product advertised on your website.

Congratulations on a fine product.
Anne N. Austin, TX

Hi y'all,

Quick note to tell you how much I enjoy your products (btw, 'products' is too bland a term for what you put on the shelves.) I love everything I have tried and I am a food snob, hard to please, especially at $8 a jar. I love your food so much, I am verging on one of those teenage crushes. Keep up the good work and PLEASE, I know tomatoes is a tough market, but what about the pasta??? I am ready for a marinara. A girl can only eat spaghetti so many times a year, so why not serve it with a sauce fit for the occasion?

With Sincere Respect for What You Do,
Mary M., Round Rock TX

To whom it may concern,

I love your marinades. We have used the garlic and molasses twice and today are cooking chicken that marinated in the bock and molasses. I have also served some of your soups. It nice to use a local product--from the state of Texas, and from my home town to boot. I have several people I work with checking out your products and loving them also.

I just wanted to let you know that in my house your marinades are the only ones we buy.

Carrie P., Katy, Texas 77449

Hi Brion,

We just got back from a warm and wonderful vacation in Virgin Gorda with friends from Boston.

We traditionally each take one night to cook in at the Villa, since the British Virgin Islands can be very remote. And food inside the few small grocery stores is always pretty grim and basic. My first night presentation was Cookwell and Company's Cacciatore over sliced grilled chicken breasts on a bed of pasta with fresh grated locatelli cheese on top. What a hit! Not a leftover remained! My friends are still talking about it, and I have mailed them my remaining coupons that you generously gave to me when we last spoke.

Much luck with any expansions throughout the country this year.

Belated Happy New Year,
Barbara N. Boston MA

I can't believe how good this tomatillo salsa is!!! I've been searching for YEARS for a salsa in a jar that doesn't have that typical salty (gross) Pace taste. All my friends told me to give up and buy it straight from La Fiesta (a local mexican restaurant in Waco) if I wanted a decent salsa. I'm so glad I didn't take their advice and kept up the search. This stuff is awesome! I can't wait to try your other products.

Valerie S. Waco TX

Hello Brion and Happy New Year,

I hope you remember me I live in New England but I'm from Las Cruces New Mexico and used to go to the Hatch Chile festival that you make your green chile stew mix from.

Anyway the reason I'm writing you is to tell you that I've been depleting the stock of your companies green chile stew mix in the area. I use it once a week at home, I even made a homemade poblano sauce for some chicken enchiladas and my son still insists on using your sauce,,, I hate competition!! Also more recently I made a Mexican fiesta for the new year for about fifty people and they loved it!!! I made My famous green chile chicken enchiladas (with green chile stew mix of course about ten jars) made home made salsa and chips, beans and rice also from scratch. Then for dessert I made sopapillas with sugar and cinnamon. They Loved everything. I had one lady tell me she goes to a local Mexican Restaurant and they dont compare to what I did for the fiesta. She wants recipies. I told a few people that asked where did I get the green chile so I told them I use the Green Chile Stew mix from Cookwell & Company. Maybe I shouldnt have told them now the local store might have a hard time stocking it for me.

Anyway keep up the good work and Ill keep you up to date with what I'm doing with your products here in Vermont. Happy Ano Nuevo!!!

Thanks,

Jim S. Vermont

I had the chance to sample some of your jarred Chili, Texas Two-Step Chili Mix, at HEB this afternoon. I first checked the label to find out the gluten free status.

I just want to say THANK YOU!! for something that tastes great and is easy to prepare. I have celiac disease and sometimes it gets disheartening trying to find good things to eat when you can't cook! I so appreciate being able to purchase your product at my local store.

Sincerely,

Phyllis M. Houston, TX
